Let Me Think...

Thinking about Thinking

We introduced The Whole Brain Business Book at the Opening Retreat. I encourage you to read this as the background to understanding your leadership style. “Start with “me” first.”

Even more important, is your respect and tolerance of a variety of styles which may be opposite to your own particular set of strengths.

For example, your project working groups are a whole brain composite. That gives your group strength in each of the four major quadrants. This collaboration can also turn into conflict if the players judge one another, instead of generating ideas, processes and strategies from four differing directions. Learn to recognize the signals and cues of each of the dominant areas. Remember, conflict and comedy have the same root. It’s a fascinating – lifelong – exercise.

The Herrmann International Website at http://www.hbdi.com/ has some really interesting case studies and a video on conflict resolution. Click on “resources”. Spend some time scanning the variety of organizations and people who have contributed to the core of whole brain thinking and learning.
